Successful bids for funding from UK online centres together with the acquisition of free venues have given us the opportunity to do more of what we like best - introducing computers and the internet to people who have been unfortunate enough to miss out on the benefits of this new technology. We have combined IAG sessions with training in the basics of surfing the web and e-mail enabling people to access these essential skills. We have also developed the "happy lappy" service which has enabled many people who were confused by the jargon of computer stores, the choices offered by internet service providers and the threat of security problems to be happily set up with a laptop computer they are confident to use. In 2008, we changed the format of the company from 'Limited' to 'CIC' (Community Interest Company) to fit in with our vision of giving to the community. |
