Ian Schulz
Although born in Lutterworth, Warwickshire, I moved to Bournemouth when I was just 1 year old in 1957. I have lived in this area ever since.

I married Gerry in 1976 and we have 2 grown up children. Any free time Gerry and I get, we now spend travelling and, in recent years, have seen much of the world.

I started my working life in the engineering industry in 1972, progressing through the ranks until I was put in charge of the department. After 22 years service, the section was shut down in 1994 and I was made redundant.

Rather than seek another job in the industry, I saw redundancy as an opportunity for change. For the next 2 years, I tried a variety of jobs on a  self-employed basis, before finding a completely new role in an 'office job'. Once established in this role, I started to support the IT manager in my spare time. When he left the company, I took over his role.

As my IT skills developed, I started to teach adults in my spare time. At the same time I worked towards a teaching qualification to consolidate this new role. Eventually I moved into teaching on a full time basis and this in turn led to A View to a Skill Ltd!

Angela and I feel both lucky and privileged to work together as our temperaments and working styles compliment each other perfectly and we know we make a very strong, and effective team.
